To-date, 16.7 million somoni, 482,000 U.S. dollars (USD) and 25,00 Russian rubles (totaling equivalent to about 2.5 million USD) have been received in Finance Ministry’s charitable account to support the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country, Finance Minister Faiziddin Qahhorzoda told reporters in Dushanbe on July 29.

According to him, physical and legal entities have transferred those funds to the charitable account.

“Thus, a Tajik entrepreneur working in Russia has transferred 100,000 USD to this account and one state has transferred 300,000 USD to this account,” the minister said.

He further noted that funds were continuing to flow to the charitable account and utilization of funds coming to the charitable account was checked by the anticorruption agency and the Accounting Chamber.

The charitable accounts in the national currency, the somoni, and foreign currencies (USD and the Russian rubles) were opened at the Main Directorate of the Central Treasury of the Ministry of Finance in early April this year.
