Chief of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Tajikistan Saimumin Yatimov met with acting afghan Defense Minister Asadullah Khalid in Kabul to discuss cooperation.

According to the Afghan Defense Minister press center, the meeting took place at the Ministry of Defense on September 10.

In the course of the talks, the two reportedly discussed issues related to border control cooperation between the two countries, fight against terrorism and reestablishment of peace in Afghanistan.

Asadullah Khalid expressed gratitude to Tajikistan for cooperation with Afghanistan in varied areas and emphasized the necessity of continuing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, the press center says.

The Government of Tajikistan had earlier condemned a deadly assassination attempt on Afghanistan Vise President Amrullah Saleh, in which 10 people were killed and 15 wounded.

The media reports say bombing hit during rush hour Wednesday morning and targeted First Vice President Amrullah Saleh’s convoy.  Among the casualties were some of Saleh’s bodyguards, but the majority of the killed and wounded people were civilians commuting to work.  Shortly after the attack Wednesday, Saleh’s son Ebad, who was with him in the car, said they both survived.
