DUSHANBE, April 20, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s Customs Service plans to open a shop in Dushanbe for realization of confiscated goods before the end of the year, Nemat Rahmatov, the first deputy head of Tajik Customs Service, told journalists in Dushanbe yesterday.  

According to him, customs officers revealed 1,062 instances of violation of the country’s customs legislation over the first three months of the year and fines for a total amount of more than 388,224 somonis have been imposed on entities for not satisfying requirements of the customs regulations. 

 “Over the same three-month period, customs officers have stopped six attempts of drug smuggling and seven attempts of smuggling of consumer goods,” Rahmatov said.

Over the report period, the customs service has also stopped an attempt of smuggling medicines for a total amount of more than $50,000 into Tajikistan, according to him.
