Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday extended condolences to President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani over deadly terrorist attack on the Kabul University, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Tajik leader had a phone conversation with President Ashraf Ghani on November 3 and extended condolences to him over the  deadly terrorist attack on the Kabul University that took place on November 2.

He also asked to convey the most sincere condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones and the people of Afghanistan and wished those injured soonest recovery.

In the course of the conversation, Tajik president noted that Tajikistan strongly condemns all inhuman terror acts and expressed confidence that such actions of extremist groups will not interfere with the decisive steps of the people of Afghanistan towards lasting peace and stability in the country.

Rahmon also welcomed the process of inter-Afghan peace negotiations and said that Tajikistan supports Afghan government’s efforts to provide security and stability in the country.

At least 22 people were killed and 22 other wounded when gunmen stormed Kabul University in a brutal, hours-long assault that saw students left in pools of blood in their classrooms.

The attack in Afghanistan’s capital on Monday, claimed by the Islamic State (IS) terror group, came as violence surged across the country.

It was also the second time in less than two weeks that an educational institution was targeted in the capital.
