On Tuesday December 1, a signing ceremony for three new projects was convened at the Embassy of Japan in Dushanbe.

The grant contracts were signed between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Takayuki Miyashita, and representatives of the recipient organizations. According to Japan’s Embassy, the total grant of Government of Japan for the projects amounts to USD 270,930.

The three new projects, funded under the scheme of Japan`s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), are:

 

–           Central Clinic No.3 in Dushanbe City: “The Project for Provision of X Ray Fluorography”, signed with Mr. Muzaffar Saidalizoda, Director of Central Clinic No.3 in Dushanbe City, for the amount of USD 90,850;

–           Central Clinic No.7 in Dushanbe City: “The Project for Provision of X Ray Fluorography”, signed with Mr. Abdujabbor Zikirzoda, Director of Central Clinic No.7 in Dushanbe City, for the amount of USD 90,850;

–           Central Hospital in Vahdat Township: “The Project for Provision of Endoscope and Ultrasound Doppler”, signed with Mr. Sirojiddin Rahmonov, Director of Central Hospital in Vahdat Township, for the amount of USD 89,230;

 

During the ceremony, Ambassador Miyashita made a following remark “the Government of Japan has provided various supports to improve the lives of Tajikistan people for many years, and this time, we will provide the three hospitals with medical equipment essential for accurate diagnosis in 3 hospitals, and it is my honor to sign these 3 projects today.  In Tajikistan, COVID19 infection has not yet subsided, and the burden on many hospitals is increasing.  By utilizing the equipment provided this time, it is expected that the efficiency of treatment at each hospital will increase, and as a result, more people will be freed from illness and the lives of the people as a whole will improve.  The Government of Japan is dedicated to continuing its support for creating a better society for all people and committed to working together with the people of Tajikistan.”

Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) is provided to local governments, educational/ medical institutions and International NGOs in addressing development needs in the areas such as education, health, water supply and the environment. GGP supports projects in the human security sectors at the grassroots level.  As of today, GGP has supported 419 projects in Tajikistan, for which more than US$ 33.8 million has been provided since 1996.
