Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali has signed a resolution on conducting the Sairi Guli Lola (Walking in the Tulip Field) contest in the Tajik capital. 

According to the press center of the mayor’s office, the contest is dedicated to intensify work on improvement of the city, education of aesthetic taste, and improvement of the culture of citizens.

The contest will determine the best flower arrangements and their authors will be rewarded with diplomas and cash prizes: first place – 10,000 somonis; second place – 7,000 somonis; and third place – 5,000 somonis.  

The contest results are expected to be announced by March 25, 2021.  

By president’s instruction the Sairi Guli Lola contest is being conducted in Tajikistan in 2019-2021 and its main objective is in reviving traditions, improving the environment, preserving nature, and attracting tourists. 

The main objective of the contest is reportedly in raising a sense of aesthetics in the population. 

About 4 million tulips are expected to be planted in Dushanbe by spring.
