Two new deputy prime ministers have been appointed in Tajikistan. Their candidacy was sent for approval to parliament, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
By president’s decree issued on February 14 Mr. Davlatshoh Gulmahmadzoda, who had previously served as head of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan, was appointed Deputy Prime Minister, replacing Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda, who had been nominated by the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDPT) to run for parliament.
Davlatshoh Gulmahmadzoda had served as Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection since January 14, 2019.
Prior to this, he served as Governor of the Khatlon Province from November 2013 to January 2019. From January 19, 2010 to November 2013, Gulmahmadzoda served as Mayor of Tursunzoda City.
By president’s decree issued on February 14 Ms. Shirin Ismatullozoda, formerly Director of the Teachers’ Training College in Dushanbe, was appointed Deputy Prime Minister in charge of social issues.
