High-ranking military officials from member nations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) have arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the CSTO defense ministers’ session that is being held in the Tajik capital today.   

A source at the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan says Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan will be represented by their defense ministers, while Armenia has sent a senior representative of its Armed Forces to Dushanbe.

Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon is meeting with the defense ministers before the session.

Besides, Tajik Defense Minister Sherali Mirzo is expected to hold a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu, according to the source.      

The session will take place at Officers’ Palace of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan and its participants will discuss issues related to providing military security, addressing challenges and threats as well as plans of actions dedicated to the 30th anniversary of signing of the Collective Security Treaty and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the source added.
