More than 500 passengers have been stranded at the airport in the southern city of Kulob since May 20 after flights to the Russian cities of Kemerovo, Volgograd and Barnaul on the Russian air carrier S7 Airlines, legally JSC Siberia Airlines, were put on hold, Jourabek Tojibekov, a representative for the airline in Tajikistan, told Asia-Plus Friday (May 21) afternoon.

The Civil Aviation Agency has suspended our flights at the last moment for reasons unknown to us,” Tojibekov said.

“The cost of our air tickets does not exceed the price we agreed with the Civil Aviation Agency,” he noted.

According to him, S7 Airlines has operated charter flights from Dushanbe, Khujand and Kulob to the Russian cities of Vladivostok, Novosibirsk, Saratov, Barnaul and Volgograd.

Recall, Hundreds of passengers have been stranded at airports in Dushanbe and Khujand stranded at airports in Dushanbe and Khujand, since May 11 after the Civil Aviation Agency suspended flights operated by the Russian air carrier Nordwind Airlines due to overpriced air tickets.

Meanwhile, Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service cited Miroj Azizov, a representative for Nordwind Airlines in Tajikistan, as saying on May 16 that the Tajik Civil Aviation Agency had withdrawn the Moscow-based company's license to carry out flights on large planes to and from international airports in Dushanbe and Khujand.
