On Monday August 23, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Farhod Salim held an online meeting with the Minister of State for South Asia and the Commonwealth of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, the parties exchanged views on regional security issues as well as the current situation in Afghanistan.

The UK Minister of State Lord Ahmad reportedly reiterated the commitment of his country to Central Asian security.

The Minister of State for South Asia and the Commonwealth is a junior position in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in the British government.

The minister has the following ministerial responsibilities: South Asia; Commonwealth of Nations

United Nations and multilateral relations; governance and democracy; open societies and anti-corruption; human rights, including Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative (PSVI); treaty policy and practice; sanctions; departmental operations (human resources and estates).
