Anisa Sabiri’s documentary participates in the Calvert Journal Film Festival

The film festival takes place online from 18 to 31 October. Anisa Sabiri's film project about the musical traditions of Tajikistan will be available online.

The Calvert Journal Film Festival is a journey through Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia.

Screening 35 films in seven categories – documentary, animation, fiction, student, experimental, short and special screenings – the festival seeks to explore contemporary issues in the region through the lens of independent filmmakers.

Compared to last year's edition, the Calvert Journal Film Festival has added six prizes.

For the first time, participants will compete for the best film in their categories. The winners will be selected by a jury of well-known industry figures, including Kazakhstani director Adilkhan Yerzhanov, Bosnian actress and educator Selma Alispahic, Kosovar director Norika Sefa and Lithuanian director Romas Zabarauskas.
