Russia has extradited 13 persons to Tajikistan wanted by Tajik law enforcement authorities on suspicion of being involved in financial and drug-related crimes.

The Prosecutor-General’s Office of the Russian Federation says eleven men and two women have been extradited to Tajikistan.

In particular, two former employees of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) have been extradited to Tajikistan.  They are reportedly charged with embezzlement of a large amount of state funds.

Besides, there also are persons among those extradited who are charged with fraud, desertion and involvement in drug-related crimes.

Recall, Tajikistan’s lower chamber (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament has recently ratified an extradition agreement with Hungary.

According to information posted on the official website of the Prosecutor-General’s Office of Tajikistan, has signed such an agreement also with Afghanistan, China, Iran, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).      

Tajikistan has also signed conventions on the transfer of sentenced persons to their own countries with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
