The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has signed a contract with the Central-Asian power-energy company (CAPEC) in Almaty on March 26.

The document provides for intervention of the Bank into the Compan”s capital.

EBRD will invest 9.2 billion KZT in the Corporation through acquisition of around 18% of its shares. The attracted funds will be spent for implementation of the company”s investment program on modernization of the CAPEC assets for increasing their efficiency, security and productivity.

Alongside with the bank”s investments, the CAPEC plans to direct its own funds and the funds attracted at the KASE for investment program implementation.

“By investing in the Corporation we hope to increase safety and stability of energy capacity and provide electricity and heat supply to the three regions – Astana, Petropavlovsk and Pavlodar,” Director of the EBRD Business Group for Energy Nandita Parshad said.
