Tajik killed while fleeing Donetsk was native of GBAO

Date:

A 62-year-old Yodali Muborakshoyev who died together with his wife – Ukrainian Tatiana Muborakshoyeva – while fleeing the Donetsk region to the Kharkov region, was the native of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

Tajikistan Ambassador to Ukraine Davlatali Nazrizoda confirmed the information about the death of Yodali Muborakshoyev and his wife.

According to him, they were killed in a traffic accident on April 9 while trying to flee the Donetsk region.

Ambassador Nazrizoda says the Muborakshoyevs were buried in Kozeletz village in the Chernigov region on April 13 and he attended the funeral.

“They left behind two children.  We have been in touch with relatives since the day of incident,” Tajik diplomat noted.  “Yodali Muborakshoyev had lived in Donetsk since 1994 and he was national of Ukraine,” Nazrizoda added.

Tajik authorities says about 3,000 Tajikistanis have evacuated from Ukraine through Poland so far.

Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, there have bene reports of the death of several Tajiks in Ukraine, including children.

However, there is no official information about this.

Meanwhile, at least four Tajik men were killed while fighting in Russian army's ranks in Ukraine.

Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service reported on March 23 that two Tajik men who served in the Russian Army and were killed while fighting in Russian army’s ranks in Ukraine have been buried in Tajikistan.

Sources close to the government told RFE/RL’s Tajik Service that, in all, the bodies of at least four Tajik men who were killed while fighting alongside Russian armed forces in Ukraine had been repatriated to Tajikistan.

RFE/RL's correspondents found out the identities of two Tajiks who were buried last month in Tajikistan's Khatlon and Sughd provinces — 50-year-old Saidakbar Saidov and 38-year-old Ramazon Murtazoyev, who served in the Russian Army and were killed in Ukraine.

Many Tajiks have dual Tajik-Russian citizenship which is allowed by a special agreement between Dushanbe and Moscow.
