The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry’s press center says employees of the Kyrgyz Embassy on May 6 and 7 visited four Kyrgyz nationals serving their terms in penal colony No 1 located in Vahdat Township, penal colony No 4 located in Dushanbe and penal colony No 6 located in Yovon district

The purpose of the visit was for Kyrgyz diplomats to get acquainted with the conditions of detention of  convicted Kyrgyz nationals.

They reportedly also organized video conferencing for Kyrgyz prisoners to interact with their relatives.

The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry provided no information about the charges the Kyrgyz convicts faced.

A number of Tajik national currently also serve their jail terms in penal colonies in Kyrgyzstan.   Asia-Plus failed to find out how many they are, what for they serve their terms and in what conditions they are held.

Relations between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan remain chill.

Many border areas in Central Asia have been disputed since the Soviet Union's collapse in 1991.

The situation is particularly complicated near the numerous exclaves in the volatile Ferghana Valley, where the borders of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan meet.

Border talks between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan began in 2002.  Only slightly more than half of the 970 kilometers of border shared by the two countries has been demarcated despite decades of attempts to bring the matter to a close.  The border delineation problem has led to conflicts between rival ethnic communities.
