On Monday May 23, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin met here with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Secretary-General Zhang Ming, who arrived in Dushanbe on an official visit.

The Tajik MFA information department says the two discussed issues related to joint activities of member nations of the SCO family to combat terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and transnational crime.

In this context, Tajik minister reportedly noted the relevance of further work on the implementation of Tajikistan’s initiative to set up the SCO Drug Control Center in Dushanbe.

Meanwhile, the SCO official website says that during his visit to Uzbekistan, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming on May 16 met in Tashkent with Acting Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov.

The two officials reportedly discussed the potential for boosting the SCO's effectiveness in ensuring regional security and sustainable economic development, as well as expanding ties in culture and education.
