The Youth Climate Caravan is continuing its activities in districts subordinate to the center.

Climate advocates launched the nationwide Climate Caravan in mid-June and project is aimed at raising youth awareness of climate change problems and solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the executive director of the environmental organization, Small Earth, Anton Timoshenko told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, the exciting training program, based on scientific data and an interactive approach, will allow young people aged 15 to 20 to learn about the existing challenges and efforts taken at the international, national and local levels.

The project, in particular, targets nine cities and districts subordinate to the center (Varzob, Romit, Vahdat, Roudaki, Shahrinav, Hisor, Dushanbe, Regar and Faizobov), totaling more than 450 activists.

The Youth Climate Caravan is reportedly being conducted under support of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan and UNDP Tajikistan with financial aid from the Government of the United Kingdom in the framework of the project, Policy Action for Climate Security in Central Asia – Phase II.

The second phase of the project, Policy Action for Climate Security in Central Asia, is aimed at supporting coherent evidence-based climate change action and increasing public awareness in Central Asia, namely in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.  The project is continuing to actively engage national stakeholders and build their capacities in developing research, policy and advocacy field.  This will ensure building national knowledge and know-how.
