On Saturday July 30, the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Iran Nizomiddin Zohidi met in Tehran with the Chairman of the Economic Commission of Strategic Council for Relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Sheibani.

The Tajik MFA information department says the parties, emphasizing the achievements of bilateral cooperation over 30 years of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Iran, exchanged views on the need to use all available opportunities to expand trade and economic cooperation.

Ebrahim Sheibani  is an Iranian economist who served as the 16th governor of the Central Bank of Iran from 2003 to 2007. He held the longest tenure (19 years) as a member of the board of governors in Iran's central bank history. Before his appointment as the governor, he was the deputy of economic affairs and the secretary general of the Central Bank of Iran from 1989 to 2003.  In 2007, Sheibani resigned and was appointed as the Iran's Ambassador to Austria, Slovenia, and Slovakia.

The Strategic Council for Foreign Relations (Shora-ye Rahbordi-ye Ravabet-e Khareji) was established in 2006 by a June 25 decree from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to facilitate the country's decision-making process, find new foreign policy approaches, and make use of foreign policy experts.
