A military exercise for the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force (CRRF) of the Central Asian Region, dubbed Rubezh-2021 (Frontier-2021), will be conducted at the Edelweiss training ground in Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan.
According to information posted on the CSTO United Headquarters’ website, the issues related to conducting the exercise and preparations for it as well as arrival and accommodation of military personnel were discussed in the framework of staff negotiations that took place from June 15 to June 17.
Recall, the headquarters negotiation to discuss preparations for the forthcoming CSTO four military exercises in Tajikistan were conducted in Dushanbe from June 8 to June 10.
Representatives of the CSTO member nations and a group of officers of the CSTO Joint Headquarters participated in the negotiations led by Air Force Major-General Turaly Koishikulov.
The negotiation participants reportedly discussed the basics of the joint exercises, the content and duration of stages, as well as the preliminary composition of command and control bodies and troops.
Four military exercises, namely an operational-strategic exercise dubbed “Combat Brotherhood-2021”, a special exercise for military reconnaissance units dubbed “Search-2021”, an exercise for logistics forces dubbed “Echelon-2021”, and an exercise for the CSTO rapid response forces dubbed “Interaction-2021”, will take place in Tajikistan this year.
Besides, the Organization will conduct a joint business game in 2021 under the leadership of the CSTO secretary-general.
Collective Rapid Reaction Force is a joint combined arms task force comprising independent military units from the Collective Security Treaty Organization member nations.
CRRF currently comprises following units: Russia — 98th Guards Airborne Division (Ivanovo) and 31st Guards Air Assault Brigade (Ulyanovsk); Kazakhstan — 37th Separate Air Assault Brigade (Taldykorgan) and Marine forces battalion; Belarus — Spetsnaz brigade; Armenia — infantry battalion; Kyrgyzstan — infantry battalion; and Tajikistan — infantry battalion. The total strength of CRRF is more than 17,000 servicemen.
The first joint exercises of CRRF were held in October 2009 at Matybulak firing range in Kazakhstan near the border with China.
