Over the first five months of this year, Tajikistan’s external trade turnover amounted to 2.842.1 billion U.S. dollars, which is 3.9 percent, or 106.2 million US dollars, more than in the same period last year.

Over the reporting period, the trade balance was negative and amounted to 1.721.7 billion U.S. dollars.

In January-May this year, Tajikistan reportedly had trade relations with 104 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

Exports of goods over the first five months have amounted to 560.2 million U.S. dollars, which is 34 percent, or 288 million U.S. dollars, less than in January-May last year.

Over the reporting period, the country’s exports included mainly mineral products (cement, ores and concentrates, electricity, coals) – 44.1 percent, non-ferrous metals (aluminum) and products made from them – 21.7 percent, products of plant origin – 3.7 percent, products of chemical industry – 2.7 percent, machinery and equipment – 6.0 percent, textiles – 18.5 percent, other goods – 3.3 percent.  

In January-May, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s exports were: Kazakhstan – 23.6 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s exports; China – 22 percent; Turkiye – 13.1 percent; Russia – 12.9 percent; Uzbekistan – 9.8 percent; Iran – 7.3 percent; Afghanistan – 4.9 percent; the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – 1.4 percent; Italy – 1.2 percent; and others. 

Imports of goods into the country over the reporting period have amounted to 2.281.9 billion U.S. dollars, which is 20.9 percent, or 394.2 million U.S. dollars more than in January-May last year. 

Over the first five months of this year, the main items of Tajikistan’s imports period were: mineral products – 16.7, machinery and equipment – 13.7; products of chemical industry – 7.9 percent; non-ferrous metals (aluminum) and products made from them – 10.2 percent; products of plant origin – 8.2 percent; finished food products – 8.0 percent; fats and oils of animal and vegetable origin – 2.6 percent, polymer materials, rubber and products of them – 3.2 percent; wood and wood products – 3.9 percent, other goods – 25.6 percent.  

In January-May this year, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s imports were: Russia – 27.8 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s imports; China – 20.4 percent; Kazakhstan – 15.2 percent; the United States – 5.9 percent; Uzbekistan – 5.2 percent; Turkiye – 3.5 percent; Germany – 3.4 percent; France – 3.2 percent; Iran – 2.4 percent; India and Belarus – 1.5 percent each; the Republic of Korea – 1.4 percent; Pakistan – 1.3 percent; and others.
