An employee of the military registration and enlistment office in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district, Warrant officer Rustam Mirsalimov, has got a lengthy jail term for a large-scale fraud (Article 247 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code).

A military court of the Dushanbe garrison has sentenced Rustam Mirsalimov to 10 years in prison.  The sentence followed his conviction on charges of committing fraud on an especially large scale.

Besides, Mirsalimov is barred from holding positions and engaging in certain activities related to property liability for the period of three years.

The Prosecutor-General’s Office says that by deceit or breach of trust Mirsalimov committed fraud-related crimes during the period from July to September last year, deceiving 31 people; the total amount of damage was 689,493 somonis.

Thus, using military uniform and official ID, Mirsalimov in October 2022 took 400 50-kilogram sacks of wheat flour grade I at Dushanbe’s Mehrgon bazaar telling the merchant that he should distribute them the Defense Ministry military units.  He noted that he would pay the merchant the necessary amount after the full distribution of flour.

Mirsalimov reportedly received 350 50-kilograms sacks of wheat flour worth 115,000 somonis.  He sold them to other people and embezzled the proceeds.
