TOLOnews notes that the Ministry of Vice and Virtue said on October 2 that nearly 200 jadogar (sorcerers, witches) have been detained across the country.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Vice and Virtue said that those who conduct jado (witchcraft; sorcery), will be introduced to the judicial departments.

“The number of jadogar detained in the provinces is more than 100.  In Kabul, their number has reached 67 yet.  Some of them are women who have been detained and introduced to the judicial system,” said Akif Mahajar, a spokesman for the Ministry of Vice and Virtue.

Abdul Hai Faizani, a religious cleric, told TOLOnews that sorcery is forbidden in Islam.

“I want the people to not commit such actions which are against Sharia and to not trust the sorcerers,” he said.

Meanwhile, the citizens also called on the government to prevent sorcery in the country.
