Tajikistan president has a new head of the press service

By president’s decree issued on January 29 Zarobiddin Qosimi has been appointed to head the president’s press service, replacing Abdufattoh Sharifzoda, who had been the president’s spokesman since 2003.

Prior to this appointment Zarobiddin had served as Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Egypt since August 31, 2020.

In 2016-2020, Mr. Qosimi served as Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

In 2015-2016, Zarobiddin Qosimi served as Director of Tajikistan’s state-run News Agency Khovar.

In 2005-2015, he served a senior adviser at the president’s press service and deputy head of the president’s press service. 

In 1996-2005, Zarobiddin Qosimi served as the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan.

In 1993-1996, he served as the spokesman for the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Tajikistan.

In 1992-1993, Zarobiddin Qosimi worked as the junior researcher at the Institute of Phylosophy and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan. 

In 1991-1992, he worked as teacher of the Arabic, Persian and Tajik languages and Tajik Literature at Dushanbe’s School No 48.                

The newly appointed head of the president’s press service is 57 years old.  He is married with six children.
