Tajikistan’s external trade turnover estimated at 571million US dollars in January

In January this year, Tajikistan’s external trade turnover amounted to 571 million US dollars, which 13.1 percent, or 66 million US dollars, more than in January last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Last month, the trade balance was negative, amounting to 404.8 million US dollars.

The Agency for Statistics says that in January this year, Tajikistan had trade relations with 91 countries of the world, including nine CIS nations.

Exports of goods last month amounted to 83.1 million U.S. dollars, which is 30.7 percent, or 36.9 million US dollars, less than in January last year.

Over the reporting period, the country’s exports included mainly mineral products (cement, ores and concentrates, electricity, coals) – 24.5 percent, textile fabrics and textile products – 34.7 percent, non-ferrous metals (aluminum) and products made from them – 30.9 percent, products of plant origin – 4.0 percent, products of chemical industry – 0.6 percent, machinery and equipment – 0.4 percent, other goods – 4.9 percent.  

In January this year, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s exports were: China – 24.2 of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s exports; Turkiye – 19.3 percent; Kazakhstan – 17.5 percent; Iran – 12 percent; Uzbekistan – .7 percent; Russia – 6.4 percent; Afghanistan – 5.1 percent; the Virgin Islands — 1.8 percent; Italy and Georgia – 1.0 percent each; and others. 

Imports of goods into the country last month amounted to 487.9 million US dollars, which is 26.7 percent, or 102.8 million U.S. dollars, more than in January last year.   

Last month, the main items of Tajikistan’s imports period were: mineral products – 18.6 percent; machinery and equipment – 12.8 percent; products of chemical industry – 8.5 percent; non-ferrous metals  and products made from them – 12.8 percent; products of plant origin – 6.9 percent; finished food products – 8.0 percent; fats and oils of animal and vegetable origin – 1.4 percent; polymer materials, rubber and products of them – 3.9 percent; wood and wood products – 4.8 percent, other goods – 22.3 percent.  

In January this year, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s imports were: Russia – 28.4 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s imports; China – 27.6 percent; Kazakhstan – 13.9 percent; Uzbekistan – 6.4 percent; Iran – 4.4 percent; Turkiye – 2.7 percent; Belarus – 1.6 percent; Germany and Japan – 1.5 percent each; Austria – 1.3 percent; the Republic of Korea – 1.2 percent; Italy, India and the United States – 1.1 percent each.
