The opening day of the first Judo Grand Slam in the history of Tajikistan was eagerly awaited by everyone, first and foremost by the athletes and their respective delegations. It must be said that the stakes are high because there are not many possibilities left to achieve results and qualifying points for the Paris 2024 Games. The Dushanbe Grand Slam 2024 is one of those events that can play a crucial role and still change everything.

The competition was also eagerly awaited by the Tajik public, who once again this year demonstrated their love for judo and the beautiful spectacle it delivers.

390 athletes, including l204 men and 186 women, are participating in the Dushanbe Grand Slam tournament.  

The anticipation generated was quickly replaced by the energy that emerged from the first five categories.  From -48kg to -57kg, including -60kg, -66kg and -52kg, everyone had something to enjoy.  

Tajik judokas won three medals – one gold medal, one silver medal and one bronze medal – on the first day of the tournament. 

Tajik judoka Muammadsoleh Quvvatov won gold medal in -60kg weight category, defeating Kazakh athlete Magzhan Shamshaddin in the final. 

Obid Jebov, who participated in -66kg weight category, was also able to ignite the Qasri Tennis Complex throughout the day. 

Before reaching the final, he defeated judokas from Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.  In the final, Obid Jebov lost to Turkmen judoka Serdar Rahimv and became a silver medalist.

Tajik judoka Mullorajab Khalifayev won bronze medal for Tajikistan.  He finished third in -66kg weight category, defeating Uzbek judoka Abdurahim Nutfulloyev in the semi-final.  

After the first day of the tournament, specialists talked about the success of the Dushanbe Grand Slam 2024.  Today four new categories are in action.
