DUSHANBE, March 14, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Tajik-Iranian joint venture for producing vegetable oil will be launched in Tajikistan, according to presidential press service.

Such an agreement was reached during the visit of President Emomali Rahmon to Sirjan, Iran’s Kerman province last Thursday.

The purpose of Tajik president’s one-day visit to Sirjan was to pave the ground for cooperation between Tajikistan and Sirjan special economic zone.  During his stay in Sirjan, President Rahmon visited a number of enterprises, including the Sirjan vegetable oil plant, FRICO.

The plant is provided with the up-to-date equipment that allows it producing up to 240,000 tons of vegetable oil per year, the source said.
