Date:

Murodali Saifiev, a young chess player from Tajikistan, won a silver medal at the FIDE World Schools Team Chess Championship, which was held from August 3-6, 2025 in Alexandria (Virginia, USA).

According to the "AsiaPlus" in the Chess Federation of Tajikistan, following the results of seven rounds, Murodali, who played on the 4th board, scored 6 points out of 7 possible, demonstrating a high level of preparation, strategic thinking and skill. His result was one of the best among the participants of the tournament.

286 young chess players representing 55 school teams from 48 countries took part in the competition. The games were held on the campus of Episcopal High School, located literally on the border with the capital of the United States, Washington.

One of the photos from the tournament shows the young medalist together with FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich, which became a symbolic confirmation of the importance of his success for the chess community.

The Chess Federation of Tajikistan congratulated Saifiev on his high achievement and noted that this success once again confirms the potential of Tajik players.

"Murodali's result proves that the republic is capable of training internationallevel athletes," the Chess Federation of Tajikistan emphasized.

This is not the first major award for the young athlete: just a few weeks ago, he won a bronze medal in the under8 category at the Central Asian Chess Championship, which was held in Cholpon Ata (Kyrgyzstan). At that time, the tournament brought together more than 500 participants from five countries of the region, and 17 chess players participated in the Tajik delegation.

Thus, during the month, Murodali Saifiev showed outstanding results both on the regional and global stage, consolidating his reputation as one of the most promising young chess players in Tajikistan.
