President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has signed a decree on autumn conscription, which will begin on October 1 and last until November 30, the press service of the head of state reports.

According to the decree, young people born in 1998-2007 will be called up for military service in the fall. And military personnel who have served a fixed term of service will be discharged from the Armed Forces in October-November 2025.

The recruits will serve in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security, the National Guard, the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the civil Defense troops of the Emergency Situations Committee, the convoy brigade of the Main Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Penalties of the Ministry of Justice, the agrarian battalion of the Agency for the Provision of Special Property under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The Ministry of Defense and the chairmen of local draft commissions have been instructed to prioritize the recruitment of young people to the Border Guard, National Guard and special forces units by "carefully selecting recruits and taking into account the specifics of service in these units."

Male citizens between the ages of 18 and 27 are conscripted into military service in Tajikistan. The draft is carried out twice a year: spring (April-May) and autumn (October-November). The term of military service is 24 months for citizens without higher education and 12 months for citizens with higher education.

The law provides for the possibility of obtaining a postponement or release from service, which depends on various factors such as marital status and health status of the conscript.

In addition, there is an alternative (paid) service option – as part of the mobilization reserve for one month. The cost of paid military service is 750 indicators for calculations (one indicator = 75 somoni).
