Dushanbe City Bank is broadening its digital services network and preparing to open branches in some of the most remote areas of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO). The goal is to make cashless transactions and modern banking services accessible to every resident in the region.
According to a presidential decree (No. 586) issued on June 22, 2023, titled "Measures to Expand Cashless Transactions," Dushanbe City Bank, a leader in digital financial technologies, is actively introducing cashless payment tools across the country, says press release issued by the bank.
The bank’s efforts to extend access to financial services are now reaching GBAO, with plans to open new banking centers in remote areas like Murgab, Vanj, and Ishkashim in the near future.
Benefits for local residents and businesses
For local residents, these developments not only make it easier to pay for services without the need for cash or standing in long lines but also bring several additional advantages:
· Enhanced security for online transfers and fund storage;
· Access to a full suite of modern banking tools and digital services;
· New opportunities for local businesses, including the ability to accept cashless payments, apply for loans, and manage finances through a mobile app;
· Increased transparency, making financial planning simpler.
A modern, innovative banking experience
Dushanbe City Bank reportedly offers a range of tools for managing finances, with key services including its wallet app DC Next and specialized business services that enhance capabilities for both individuals and entrepreneurs.
The DC Next e-wallet allows customers to perform hundreds of transactions in seconds, from paying taxes and utility bills to making transfers and purchases. Through the app, users can:
· Create virtual cards (such as Visa Virtual) for online shopping;
· Manage debit and credit cards, track transactions, open deposits, and apply for loans;
· Make payments using QR codes, a feature that is particularly useful in shops and on public transport.
Support for small and medium-sized businesses
Dushanbe City Bank is reportedly also expanding its business services, which are especially beneficial for small and medium-sized enterprises. The bank offers point-of-sale (POS) terminals, payment processing solutions, and a unified QR code for accepting cashless payments. These tools help businesses streamline operations, improve customer convenience, and speed up financial transactions.
Aligning with national goals
These initiatives align with the objectives of the presidential decree No. 586, which aims to ensure equal access to banking services, enhance financial literacy among the population, and create a unified digital ecosystem across the country.
The press release notes that Dushanbe City Bank’s efforts in GBAO are a crucial step towards integrating remote regions into Tajikistan’s broader digital financial infrastructure, helping to drive the nation’s digital transformation.
Dushanbe City Bank has been in business since 2007. It started as a macro credit deposit organization (MDO), with its core business providing. Today, Dushanbe City Bank has its own chain of more than 200 credit card terminals and more than 500 ATMs, or automated teller machines, across the country. The bank is now aiming for leadership in digital banking that responds to all of the current challenges.
