President appoints new ambassadors to Uzbekistan and the United States amid diplomatic reshuffle

Date:

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has dismissed Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda from his post as Ambassador to Uzbekistan. Rahmonzoda had served in the position since May 4, 2021.

He will be replaced by Nasreddin Ismatullo, formerly the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan.

The vacancy at the Foreign Ministry will now be filled by Farrukh Hamralizoda, who until recently served as Tajikistan’s Ambassador to the United States. Hamralizoda had held the Washington post since 2020 and was recalled late last week.

His successor in the U.S. will be Zavqi Zavqizoda, who had previously served as Minister of Economic Development Trade.
