On the sidelines of the CSTO summit in Kyrgyzstan’s capital, Bishkek, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, held a bilateral meeting with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.

The Tajik president’s official website says the two leaders discussed a broad range of issues related to the multifaceted cooperation between their countries.

It was noted with satisfaction that Tajik-Russian relations, based on strategic partnership and alliance, continue to develop steadily.

Particular attention was reportedly given to joint efforts in combating global challenges and threats such as terrorism, extremism, transnational crime, drug trafficking, and cybercrime.

The discussion also covered the expansion of trade, economic, and investment cooperation, as well as the strengthening of interregional ties.

Humanitarian cooperation — including in the fields of education, culture, and other areas — featured prominently on the agenda.

The presidents also exchanged views on a number of key regional and international issues being of mutual interest.
