Global Times reported on December 1The Chinese Embassy in Dushanbe has issued an urgent appeal for Chinese nationals and companies to evacuate areas near the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border following a violent armed attack that left Chinese citizens injured.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday night in the Darvoz district of Tajikistan’s Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), a remote mountainous area bordering Afghanistan. According to the embassy, Chinese citizens were among those harmed in the attack.

In a statement released Monday via its official WeChat account, the embassy reiterated its call for all Chinese enterprises and personnel to leave the border region immediately. It also advised Chinese nationals in other parts of Tajikistan to avoid traveling to the affected areas and to take all necessary safety precautions.

“In case of emergency, Chinese citizens should contact local police and reach out to the embassy for assistance,” the statement added.

Following the attack, Chinese Ambassador to Tajikistan Guo Zhijun held urgent talks with Tajik officials. According to the embassy readout, both sides discussed the safety of Chinese nationals and enterprises in the region.

Ambassador Guo urged the Tajik government to take all necessary measures to safeguard Chinese interests. In response, Tajik authorities strongly condemned the attack and pledged to bolster security efforts, vowing to protect Chinese citizens and businesses.

The embassy continues to monitor the situation closely and maintain communication with local authorities.
