Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon has instructed the country’s Communications Service to develop a Telecommunications Development Strategy for period up to 2040 and present it for government review.

In his address to the parliament on December 16, Rahmon highlighted that the goal of the strategy is to ensure high-speed internet access for the population and modernize the telecommunications infrastructure, including expanding fiber optic lines and international communication channels.

The president also emphasized the importance of efficient tax administration for the country’s sustainable development. He noted that between 2020 and 2025, the Tax Administration Development Program was successfully implemented, leading to significant improvements in tax management.

Given the new economic challenges and changes in the global situation, the president tasked the government with preparing a new program for Tajikistan’s tax system for 2026–2030

Development of transport infrastructure

Speaking about the transport communications sector, the president mentioned that in 2026, Tajikistan will begin the construction of 300 km of highways, with a total cost of 3 billion somonis.

"The projects will include major sections such as Vahdat — Obigarm, Guliston — Kulob, Murgab — Kulma, and others. These roads will be crucial for improving the country’s transport infrastructure, which will, in turn, promote economic growth and enhance connectivity between regions of Tajikistan," said Rahmon.
