KHUAJND, October 18, 2010, Asia-Plus — After being closed for two weeks, the Khuajnd-based Tajik-Vietnamese joint venture, TV-Silk, is expected to resume operations this week, according to the Sughd energy ad industry department.
“The enterprise has shifted from the natural gas powered steam boilers to coal,” said the source, “In all, there are three boilers at the enterprise and two of them will run on coal.”
TV-Silk produces floss thread and its whole output is exported to Southeast Asia’s countries. This year, Sughd silkworm breeders have produced only 395 tons of raw silk, which is 517 tons fewer than last year.
Tajik joint-stock company (OJSC) Abreshim owns 40 percent of the shares and Vietnam’s Asia Silk Corporation assumes the 60% ownership interest in the joint venture VT-Silk.
