DUSHANBE, October 11, 2010, Asia-Plus — The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CES) plans to conduct action on October 13 to mark International Day for Natural Disaster.
The source at a CES says the action includes conducting the man-on-the-street survey to know population’s awareness of measures that should be taken in the event of emergency situation.
Besides, public service announcements about the measures taken in Central Asia to reduce risk and vulnerabilities of societies and communities to the negative impacts of natural hazards will be featured on street video monitors. “Residents of Dushanbe will be able to know about activities of the CES and the disaster risk reduction measures,” the source said.
On October 13, one of the Dushanbe radio stations will hold a quiz program on measures that should be taken in the event of natural disasters.
All these activities are organized under support of the UNDP CO in Tajikistan.
