DUSHANBE, October 2, 2010, Asia-Plus — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has been awarded the Nikolai Blokhin Gold Medal instituted by Russia’s Academy of Medical Sciences.
The President of Russia’s Academy of Medical Sciences Mikhail Davydov bestowed the medal on Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe on October 1 on sidelines of a meeting of President Rahmon with him and Igor Shchepotin, Director of Ukraine’s National Cancer Oncology Institute, according to presidential press service.
The Tajik head of state was reportedly awarded the medal for significant contribution to development of health care and support for medical sciences.
In the course of the talks, the sides exchanged views on various aspects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Tajikistan, Russia and Ukraine in the public health sphere, in particular expansion of cooperation in oncology.
