DUSHANBE, September 18, 2010 Asia-Plus — On Friday September 17, thirteen heads of print media publishing a total of some 40 newspapers established the first print media distribution cooperative in Tajikistan.
Public access to print media in Tajikistan has long been hampered by the lack of a properly functioning distribution system. The goal of the new cooperative system is to improve the distribution of newspapers and magazines. Now newspapers will be delivered every day to sales points around the country, and the number of places where newspapers are sold will be increased.
The country”s major print media such as
Asia-Plus
,
Charkhi Gardoun
,
Oila
and others are represented in the board of directors of the newly established system.
Head of the media holding Oila, Sharif Hamdamov, was elected chairman of the cooperative”s board and Zafar Sufiyev, the editor-in-chief of the
Ozodagon
weekly, was elected his deputy.
The first meeting of the cooperative’s board will take place on September 23.
