DUSHANBE, September 7, Asia-Plus – The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) has postponed the tender for the creation of the national credit card processing scheduled for September 12 till September 30, according to the NBT press service.
The tender has been postponed because additional time is needed for preparation of proposals, the source said.
Interested companies have been invited to participate in the tender. Tajik central bank in cooperation with local commercial banks and credit organizations has begun to develop the project for creation of the national credit card processing center in order to reduce the share of cash payment in the country. The work on development of the project and tender documents for providing necessary equipment has been carried out in cooperation with the World Bank, the source said.
According to him, the national credit card processing center is dedicated to promote development of the electronic payment system and creation of stable infrastructure ensuring effectiveness of use of credit cards inside the country. It is planned that with opening of the national credit card processing center other international payment systems such as master Card, Visa Card, and American Express will be also widely used in Tajikistan, the source added.
