DUSHANBE, July 1, 2010, Asia-Plus — Open joint-stock company NBO Roghun has announced a tender for conducting an external audit of its accounts for 2008-2009.
The source at NBO Roghun says applications for participation in the tender are accepted till July 20, 2010.
We will recall that OJSC NBO Roghun was set up to complete the construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP) after Tajikistan in August 2007 revoked a contract with Russia’s RusAl aluminum company for the construction of the Roghun HPP. The cancellation of the contract also included the “annulment” of the October 2004 agreement on “long-term cooperation” with RusAl.
According to different estimates, 2.5-3 billion U.S. dollars are needed to complete the construction of the Roghun HPP.
In 2008-2009, more than 160.18 million U.S. dollars were allocated from the national budget for the Roghun HPP. This year, the national budget earmarked some 150 million U.S. dollars for the construction of the station. Besides, Tajikistan has issued 6 billion somoni ($1.37 billion) worth of Roghun shares, which officials have said is how much is needed to begin producing electricity at two units at the hydropower plant. U$190 million have already been raised from the sale of shares in Roghun.
