QUERGHON TEPPA, May 11, 2010, Asia-Plus — More than 172 freight cars carrying wheat flour, grains, building materials and humanitarian aid arrived in Khatlon province from May 8 to May 11 after two-month delays, Saidjon Yodgori, the deputy head of the shipment department within Tajik Railways’ branch for Khatlon, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
“Uzbek authorities began to allow freight cars to move into Khatlon province on May 8,” said Yodgori, “To-date, freight cars loaded with wheat flour, grains and building materials as well as 11 freight cars containing humanitarian aid provided by international organizations have arrived in the province.”
We will recall that some 1,000 freight cars bound for Khatlon provinces have been stranded in Uzbekistan since mid-March this year.
