DUSHANBE, May 11, 2010, Asia-Plus — The mayor of the city of Kulob and chairmen of Sughdf’s districts of Panjakent and Ghonchi as well as Khatlon’s districts of Shuroobod, Muminobod, Vose and Temourmalik today reported to President Emomali Rahmon on measures taken by local authorities to mitigate effects of recent disasters, according to presidential press service.
Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and heads of a number of ministries and department today left for the Kulob zone of Khatlon province to familiarize themselves with the process of the cleanup operation and determine places for construction of new dwellings for the disaster-hit population.
The national commission for the Kulob disaster relief efforts is to provide all families whose houses were destroyed completely with new residential buildings until November 6 this year. In all, more than 500 new houses are expected to be built.
The president also ordered the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to find funds to provide financial support to the disaster-hit population, the press service said.
