DUSHANBE, May 8, 2010, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon has departed for Moscow to attend celebrations devoted to the 65th anniversary of Victory in Word War II, according to presidential press service.

Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi, Defense Minister Sherali Khairulloyev and the State Adviser to the President for International Issues Erkin Rahmatulooyev are accompanying Rahmon on this trip.

An informal summit of the presidents of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is being held in Moscow today.

The CSTO groups Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.  The CSTO informal summit is considering issues related to the current situation in Kyrgyzstan and a number of other topical international issues.  Russian media report that the summit may result in the adoption of joint documents on the issues that are being discussed at the meeting.

The CSTO informal summit will be followed by an informal meeting of heads of state from member nations from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS),

In all, some 30 heads of state and government are expected to attend the Victory Day celebrations that will take place in Moscow on May 9.  Among them are leaders of the CIS member nations, Vietnam, Israel, Latvia, Macedonia, as well as the head of the Government of Italia.

Besides, more than 200 war veterans from 24 countries arrived in Moscow on Friday.  We will recall that seven veterans of World War II from Tajikistan have been invited to take part in the Victory Parade on Moscow’s Red Square.
