DUSHANBE, May 7, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Visiting Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Iranian Affairs, Mr. Hassan Ghashqavi, told reporters in Dushanbe on April 7 that Iran plans to open its consulate in Khujand, the capital of Sughd province in northern Tajikistan.

According to him, Tajikistan, in turn, intends to open its consulate in the Iranian city of Mashhad.  “We hope these consulates will start their work soon,” Mr. Ghashqavi noted.

He added that Iran intendeds to participate at an international conference on mid-term comprehensive review of the implementation of the International Decade “Water for Life” 2005-2015 in Dushanbe.  Foreign Minister Manoucheh Mottaki is expected to attend the conference, Mr. Ghashqavi said.
