Tajikistan simplifies visa regime for Iranian investors

DUSHANBE, May 7, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan and Iran are signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on consular cooperation today, Mr. Hassan Ghashqavi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Iranian Affairs, told reporters in Dushanbe today.

are expected to sign two other agreements.





“We will sign an agreement on exchange of information about persons wanted by police and an agreement on extradition of criminals,” Mr. Ghashqavi, said, adding that


Tajikistan


agreed to simplify visa regime for Iranian businesspeople and investors.





“If Iranian entrepreneur invests up to 500,000 U.S. dollars, he will get one-year visa to stay in Tajikistan and if Iranian entrepreneur invests more than 500,000 U.S. dollars in Tajikistan’s economy, he will get a three-year visa,” said Iran’s deputy foreign minister, “Henceforth, Iranian students studying in Tajikistan will get one-year visa.”





Ghashqavi expressed hope that visa requirements for citizens of the two nations sharing common culture and language will be waived in the near future.
