DUSHANBE, April 22, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Ways to expand trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and the Philippines were discussed yesterday at a meeting of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) head Sharif Said with the Ambassador of the Philippines to Tajikistan Jekus Iness Yabes (phonetically spelled).

The CCI press service says the Philippines envoy noted that his country is interested in expanding bilateral with Tajikistan in the fields of trade and industry.  According to him, representatives from business community of the Philippines will visit Tajikistan in the near future. He asked to outline sectors that could drive the bilateral trade cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, the Tajik CCI head stressed that organization of business forums, exhibitions and fairs was the best way to promote expansion of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and the Philippines.  According to him, Tajikistan’s CCI is ready to help the Philippines Embassy establish and expand trade and economic ties between the two countries, the CCI press service said.
