DUSHANBE, March 30, 2010, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon started his official visit to Singapore.
Singapore President met his visiting colleague from Tajikistan at his residence, the Tajikistan President’s press service told the AP. Following a series of official ceremonies, which included the play of national anthems, inspecting the Guard of Honour, official meeting of the two delegations and the diplomatic corps, the sides have conducted their bilateral talks.
“Tajikistan pays special attention to the development of relations with highly-developed Singapore and is interested in further development of relations with this country,” the press services has quoted Emomali Rahmon.
According to the source, the two sides stressed that common positions of the two countries on many issues of international and regional character will lay a strong basis for the development of bilateral relations.
The sides have expressed their interest in the development of bilateral relations in such spheres as economy, trade and investments into energy, water use, agriculture, mountain industry and the use of state-of-the-art technologies.
Tajikistan President invited his colleague to Tajikistan, the press service reports, adding that Emomali Rahmon also met with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to discuss the prospects of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
The sides have signed a joint statement of the Republic of Tajikistan and Republic of Singapore and Memorandum between foreign ministries of the two countries, the source reported.
Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon will stay in Singapore till the end of the day and tomorrow will start his official visit to Brunei Darussalam.
