DUSHANBE, March 3, 2010, Asia-Plus — The People’s Democratic Party (PDPT) intends to offer their proposals to the country’s new development program, Safar Safarov, the first deputy head of PDPT, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on March 2.
According to him, PDPT members elected to the parliament will continue promoting implementation of the poverty reduction strategy in the country. “Our party actively participated in implementation of this strategy before the elections as well,” said Safarov, “We now intend to offer our proposals to the new poverty reduction program designed for 2010-2012.”
He noted that one of priorities of the program was creation of new jobs and improvement of the employment situation in the country. “Additional manpower is needed for implementation of the Roghun hydroelectricity project, while many Tajiks left the country seeking better employment opportunities,” said Safarov, “Therefore, it is necessary to work more actively on bringing labor migrants back. We are ready to provide them with jobs and worthy wages. May be these wages will not be as high as wages they have received abroad, but they will work in homeland and for homeland.”
He also added that PDPT intended to set up a special committee within the parliament to deal with the corruption issues.
