DUSHANBE, February 12, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) has introduced an interim management in the Khujand-based open-joint-stock company (OJSC) Sohibkorbank for a six-month period.

According to the NBT press service, the interim management was introduced in connection with unprofitable activity of this commercial bank in 2009 and its negative regulative capita in order to avoid the bank bankruptcy.

All rights and powers of this credit organization, including rights and powers its shareholders, depositors and senior representatives have, are transferred to the interim administration..

Sohibkorbank, with headquarters in the northern city of Khujand, was founded in 1999.  Kazakh investors now own 76.32 percent of the shares and the Tajik side assumes 23.68 ownership interest in Sohibkorbank.  The bank had 11 branches in Dushanbe, Istaravshan, Konibodom, Isfara, Chkalovsk, Buston (Mastchoh district), Qurghon Teppa, Tursunzoda, Roudaki and Panjakent.  But last December, the bank closed its five branches.
