DUSHANBE, February 11, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) hosted a meeting of Tajik entrepreneurs with their visiting Belarusian colleagues today.

As it had been reported earlier, a delegation of Belarusian entrepreneurs, led by Deputy Minister of Industry, Gennady Svidersky, arrived in Dushanbe on February 10 for a three-day visit and its members include 16 entrepreneurs and top managers of  Belarusian large enterprises, including BelAZ, MAZ, Amkodor, Lidselmash, Orshaafroprommash, Lidakhlenprodukt, Lidaagroprommash and Belagromash.

Tajik and Belarusian entrepreneurs discussed a broad range of issues related to expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in different fields.

Speaking at the meeting, Gennady Svidersky noted that trade and economic cooperation between enterprises Belarus and Tajikistan has been developing dynamically.  “Our companies have good relations in many directions,” said Belarusian official, “However, there is still considerable room for expansion of economic ties.  Belarusian companies are ready to launch joint ventures in cooperation with their Tajik colleagues.”

For his part, Tajikistan’s CCI head Sharif Said outlined sectors like hydropower, agriculture, minerals, processing and food industries as well as tourism as areas of which could drive the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.  He noted that Tajikistan has already been receiving trolleybuses, agricultural machines, haulage equipment for construction of hydropower plants and other goods from Belarus.

During their stay in Dushanbe, Belarus entrepreneurs have also held talks with senior representatives from Tajik ministries of economic development, energy ad industries and trade, transport and communications, etc.  Their visit to Tajikistan concludes on February 12.
