DUSHANBE, January 29, 2010, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon expressed dissatisfaction with activities of the Supreme Court and the Prosecutor-General’s Office In providing legality in the country, especially in determining tasks of the law enforcement agencies on preventing illegal allotment of lands, according to presidential press service.

President’s criticism came during an address to an enlarged meeting of the government reviewing the results of the past year”s work that is going on in Dushanbe today.

Reporting on the results of work carried out by the Agency for State financial Control and Combating Corruption in 2009, the anticorruption chief Fattoh Saidov noted that the agency conducted 1.155 inspections last year and according to findings by the agency, corruption cost Tajikistan at 70.5 million somoni in 2009.

Chairman of the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property (GosKomInvest) Davlatali Saidov, Minister of Economy and Industries Gul Sherali, Barqi Tojik (Tajik electricity supplier) Chairman Abdullo Yorov and Tojiktransgaz (Tajik state natural-gas distributor) Saidmamad Sharofiddinov also reported on the results of work carried out by their institutions in 2009.

The Barqi Tojik deputy chairmen Nourmahmad Kholnazarov, Sharif Isoyev and Safarali Sadulloyev were sacked for serious shortcomings in their work.

It was noted that nationwide shift to energy-saving light bulbs allowed the country saving 875 million kWh of electrical power.

The head of state ordered to increase the supply of daily electricity to residential customers in Khatlon to 10 hours and residential customers in Sughd to 11 hours.  It was also noted that residential customers in districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) have already had electricity 10 hours per day.
